A small family working on a dream...Wood & Thyme is a collaboration by husband and wife team Richie and Larkin Newberry. Born and bred in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, Richie and Larkin share a love for all things natural and a commitment to the environment. They embrace indigenous and repurposed woods and natural techniques whenever possible. Richie leans a little towards the abstract, while Larkin favors classic lines. Their collaborations result in a style which is crisp, clean and a little whimsical.
Wood & Thyme came about after the birth of Richie and Larkin's child Cecilia in 2013. Richie is a SAHD and had been dabbling in woodworking for several years. It was their dream to have a little woodworking business that would enable them to embrace their creative sides while allowing Richie to stay at home with their child.
Since that time their products and scope has broadened from Christmas ornaments to puzzle boxes, signs, children's puzzles, keychains, and much more. They have great support from family and friends and are forever appreciative of that support. They look forward to all the joys that owning their own small business while raising their family can entail.
Larkin and Richie share in the design work of all of their work. Richie focuses on puzzles, boxes, miniature furniture and all the scroll saw designs while Larkin works on most of the custom signs. Richie uses a Scroll Saw to hand cut everything and a CNC router for the signs. Larkin does most of the finishing work using oil based stains for the wood tones and non-toxic dyes for "colors". They also developed their own sealer for the kids puzzles and keychains that is made from coconut oil and local beeswax.
